News stories often pique our curiosity, although they seldom provide much information. Generally, the purpose of a news story is to grab attention, not to educate. When you see a news story and want to know more information, where do you turn? The Internet is the obvious choice.

It was a perennial Looney Tunes gag. Bugs, Daffy or Yosemite Sam would be in the desert, after that “wrong turn at Cucamonga,” and there would appear to them, after a heated walk, relief in the vision of an oasis, with rippling water and deck chairs. The point of the joke was that it was always a mirage, and our animated friends would end up eating sand.

Beauty pawed the dirt, tossed her head back, and flared her nostrils. “Easy girl,” Bennie said. “The gun will sound in just a minute, then we’re gonna race.”
